First my blackberry gives me problems, my travel external hard-drive dies, and now my camera won't sync with the computer.
There go the visuals.
try and picture this. (hopefully pictures will follow...)
We're in Vang Vieng, Laos.
jon, misha and i rented bikes.
who needs gears or breaks? (a far cry from my cannondale carbon!)
we're riding along roads lined with rice fields, goats, and the mountains are covered in clouds. It's a perfect morning.
Until Jon gets a flat tire.
In true laotian style he got on the back of my bike. I guess that's what that rear seat is for! Off we go with his bike trailing behind us in hand. We were laughing so hard I couldn't steer.
Made it back to town in time for showers, and lunch and CNN. Watched McCain's speech followed by our new President. Completely blown away by his eloquence. So proud to be an American.
We celebrated in true style by eating hamburgers and coke light.

HEY PAMELA
I have been enjoying your trip but have not written back my head has been spinning since I returned from the Grand Canyon mid Oct.
I have always been afraid to go to India when people share about their trips there I think I do not want to do or see that. I know I am listening for reasons to justify my fears. Like the chaos, poverty, sanitation, plus it is a long drive.
Your experience with the phone reminds me when we (I went with a friend and his daughter) went to buy a phone on the street in Bali. The phones were traded on the street the price was governed by how long before the phone company turned off the phone. Seemed like the most they were good for was 90 days. You could buy one for your trip and sell it back before you leave. It was foreign to me not to have a store, a bill, a contract .We found one that was good for ten more days cheap. Somehow the street guy could check how much longer would be on. We could buy minutes on the street too.
You miss you mat? so what is it....(India) The chaos it is almost calming (I felt it in South America) somehow it is not real, I never feel connected to it only an observer. I am in my own chaos I do not speak the language, this is not my county what if.. .It is like there is these two crazy worlds going on that do not have much to do with each other. Then there is the real or work a day stuff like where am I staying, what am I doing today,do I need to pack, how do I get there, what an I going to eat, and how do say please in this country. There is the feeling of wow I am really doing this.
It seemed like you were mixed about India I would like to hear more...
I am going to let you go. even though I feel like I just got started.
Oh yea did Rebecca have her baby yet?
be safe and thanks bill
